Bali's Tanah Lot Temple installing a stage for cultural shows
04.11.2024 Bali News / TourismNovember 3, 2024 – Tanah Lot Temple, one of Bali’s most popular and sacred sites on the Tabanan coast, will soon feature an open-air stage for cultural performances. This new initiative aims to provide tourists with enriching experiences while preserving Balinese culture.
The Operations Manager, Wayan Sudiana, announced that the stage would host Balinese Hindu ceremonies and performances of local arts, including dance, allowing visitors to connect with the island's traditions. Tanah Lot already attracts around 5,000 visitors daily, and this addition is expected to enhance its appeal, promoting Bali’s unique cultural heritage.
While many welcome the development, local leaders emphasize the need to balance cultural preservation with tourism growth. Academic Ketut Wartayasa cautioned that Bali must protect its traditions and resist the pressures of commercial expansion. The temple stage is one of several recent cultural attractions, with Jatiluwih Rice Terraces now offering evening laser light shows. Both projects reflect Bali's effort to boost tourism responsibly, ensuring that visitors can experience the island's rich heritage authentically.
