A 33-year-old Russian citizen, Evgenii Karamyshev, was arrested in southern Bali. The Indonesian Narcotics Agency (BNNP Bali) accuses him of attempting to sell 223 grams of hashish. During a search of his rented accommodation, police discovered six other types of drugs, including marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, mephedrone, methamphetamine, cocaine, and MDMA.
Karamyshev, who has been living on the island for about a year, admitted to distributing drugs using a "drop system." He received the locations of drug stashes via Telegram from his employer. The man claims his employers are based in Thailand and that he does not know their identities.
Karamyshev was paid for his activities in cash or cryptocurrency. According to Indonesian law, such offenses are punishable by up to 20 years in prison or the death penalty.
The head of BNNP Bali, Sinar Sumbawa, stated that the investigation is ongoing to identify and arrest the organizers of a large Russian-Bali drug trafficking network.
