Australian Couple Arrested in Bali for Alleged Prostitution Ring

Michael Jerome LR, 50, and Linley Legrand, 44, were arrested this week, along with eight staff members, at their spa, the Pink Palace, in Cuda. Police raided the spa on Friday, alleging it was involved in illegal commercial prostitution. They displayed seized evidence, including lingerie and condoms. Prostitution is illegal in Indonesia, and the couple is being investigated under anti-pornography laws, which can lead to prison sentences of six months to twelve years.

Additionally, one staff member was reportedly underage, prompting further scrutiny regarding Indonesia's child protection laws. Michael and Linley are long-term residents of Bali, operating several businesses, including a sports bar and café in Semak. While their other businesses continue to operate, the couple remains in custody as police prepare their case for prosecutors, with a deadline of about 15 days to do so.
