An Indian-born tourist, Nilesh Mukhi (L), 59 years old, was reported to have been swept away by the currents at Billabong Beach, Bunga Mekar Village, Nusa Penida, on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, around 10:50 AM local time.

According to information gathered at the scene, the incident began when the victim was on a cliff enjoying the view with other tourists when a large wave suddenly struck his body. As a result, the victim was dragged by the wave and drowned.

In addition, a Chinese national suffered a severe head injury due to the impact of the large wave.
